Thursday, October 30, 6:30–8:00 PM
Bust out your Halloween costumes the night before All Hallow’s Eve and come join other ghosts and ghouls at the bookstore! As always, we will be reading creepy tales for all ages, announcing the winners of the Scary Poem Contest and awarding prizes for best costume. Everyone goes home with a goody bag!
Instead of scary stories, we’re asking each of you to compose a scary poem this year! A spine-tingling sestina, an ominous ode, a haunting haiku, a revolting rhyme or freaky free verse . . . we dare you to freak us out!
Guidelines:
- Open to children in grades K–12, one entry per child.
- Poems must be typed or neatly printed. Illustrations welcomed!
- Entries may be e-mailed, submitted via the form below, snail-mailed or dropped off at the store: or Spirit of '76 Bookstore, 107 Pleasant Street, Marblehead, MA 01945 attn: Scary Poem Contest!
